Gigi Hadid is in that uppermost tier of supermodels who never have to wear the same piece of clothing twice, if they don’t want to. So when a particular item appears again and again, it’s worth noting. For Gigi, that prized piece is the Majorelle clutch designed by Emm Kuo.
Sleek and funky, the furry black minaudière accompanied Gigi all over New York and Paris for Fashion Week. On one occasion, she used it to accent the unlikely (yet oddly pleasing) combination of a slip dress, ornate over the knee boots, and a sage green bomber jacket. On another, the piece softened the otherwise intense pairing of black leather skinnies and impenetrable shades that put in mind some sort of special ops unit. Again, as with everything Gigi wears, the look was striking, unusual, and indelibly chic.
Memorably, she was snapped striding along in mod sneakers that resembled old-fashioned spats thanks to their black and white banding. Her adorable Majorelle was tucked under the arm of an enormous coat, shapley in its shapelessness. Once you get a taste for black fur, there’s just nothing else
that quite compares. — jas
