If the street style pros have any say, the way to wear fur this year is in selective puffs.

It’s time once again to bundle up in the warmest furs you can lay hands on. But wait! There’s no need to dig those old, heavy fur coats out of the back of your wardrobe if you can update to a cozy, fuzz-crested item like Chiara Ferragni. The street style pro was spotted recently in a midnight blue cropped jacket complemented by yellow tinted glasses. As she and other sidewalk stars have discovered, you can get away with showing a little skin on even the coldest of days — depending on the warmth of your coat, of course.

Furry tufts can be placed basically anywhere on the outfit for adorable (not to mention toasty) results. The sleeves and collar are the most common spots, of course, but Veronika Heilbrunner’s Fall 2017 Prada coat was lined with a thick band of cream colored fuzz at the hem. Even more surprising, Sofie Valkiers’ Claudia Li Fall 2017 ensemble featured fluffy patches blossoming at the hips.

Then again, it’s hard to beat a good old fashioned stole, like the bold Fendi creation Shiona Turini draped over the shoulder of her crimson Celine pantsuit. And if a single punch of fur can be dramatic, why not go double or nothing? Fur sleeves are this winter’s most unexpected (and delightful) trend.

In some cases, lines of fur simply crown the tops of sleeves. Other times, the cushioning material completely envelopes both arms! Most often, symmetry rules, but Xenia Tchoumitcheva’s Versus Versace ensemble is a notable exception. Her soft top balanced one sleeve of pink fur with another of azure.— jas
