Few Hollywood duos have captured imaginations like Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio — both onscreen and off.

Fans have been treated to a quite a few red carpet reunions since the stars portrayed ill-fated lovers Jack and Rose in 1997’s Titanic. These occasions have historically been as stylish as they have been unpredictable. The film is celebrating its twentieth anniversary this December 19, in part with a 3D re-release of the original and a return to theaters. Which has everyone wondering, is another star crossed Kate and Leo meeting in the works?

Famously, the 23- and 24-year-olds sparked speculations of a real-life romance when they attended the 1998 Golden Globes arm-in-arm. Leo looked dapper in a classic tux and bow tie while Kate made a timeless, elegant statement in a nude gown decorated with a black floral overlay.

Since that time, the two celebs have each developed a singular style sense of their own. Leo often makes it to awards shows dressed snappily in a sharp suit. And for her part, Kate has a slight preference for curve hugging monochrome (especially gowns from Badgley Mischka) when it’s her turn to scoop up another award or two.

Most recently, sparks flew and reignited the old rumors when the stars shared an electrifying moment at the 2016 Oscars, despite the fact that both of them brought separate dates. In monochrome reminiscent of their 1998 Golden Globes outfits, Leo glowed in Armani, while Kate was radiant, wrapped in a glistening Ralph Lauren creation fitted with a dramatic train.

In the true spirit of the film, fans will “never let go” of the idea of a real-life Kate and Leo romance. Whether deliberately or unintentionally, the two stars add fuel to the fire with every stylish joint appearance they make. Looking at how well their tastes in fashion complement each other, who can blame fans for a bit of wishful thinking?  — jas
