Maison Margiela’s “pillow bag” is a huge hit and we can’t say the fashion world didn’t see it coming.

The moment the plush piece appeared on the label’s Spring 2018 runway, everyone just had to have one. Although designer John Galliano technically named it the “Glam Slam,” his creation is colloquially being referred to as “the pillow bag.”

Wonderfully puffy and available in bright red, ebony, ivory, or beige, the piece really does resemble the sort of pillows that can be observed at any airport tucked under the arms of travelers experiencing varying degrees of exhaustion while in transit from one (undoubtedly glamorous) location to another.

The pillow purses were the standout feature of Maison Margiela’s jet-setting themed show and have since been picked up by Susie Lau, Camila Coelho, and more street style pros who have both an appreciation for travel chic and a quirky sense of humor.

More than anything, the Glam Slam is putting a stylish, tongue-in-cheek spin on the puffer-everything trend for Paris Fashion Week. Along with puffer coats, puffer pants, and puffer boots, can we expect more puffer bags in the near future? We think so! — jas
