Presenting the new royal baby today, Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, significantly chose to wear a red dress from Jenny Packham.
The cardinal number featured a lovely Peter Pan collar of white lace that recalled the outfit worn by Princess Diana when she first presented her son, Prince Harry, to the public in 1984.
Kate’s knee length item further recalled the blue polkadot dress she wore for the presentation of Prince George in July 2013, and the yellow and white floral piece she picked out after giving birth to Princess Charlotte in May 2015. Both designs were also created by Jenny Packham.
The British designer is a favorite of Kate’s, having supplied multiple dresses throughout the Duchess’s most recent pregnancy, including the moss green empire waist gown she wore to the BAFTAs in February.
Already one of the most significant days of the year for England, April 23 is St. George’s Day in addition to serving as the day that Shakespeare’s birthday is traditionally observed. The birth of Kate and Prince William’s third royal baby makes this very special day even more celebratory!
In honor of the royal occasion, here’s a roundup of Kate’s best-ever Jenny Packham ensembles. Highlights include multiple blue confections shaped by the label’s signature draping technique. — jas
