Look no further than the MTV Video Music Awards for the craziest fashion of the year.

Each summer, you’re guaranteed to witness some of the most astounding style at this star-studded event. August 26 is not that far away, so here’s a look back at everyone’s favorite red carpet moments.

First in line has to be Miley Cyrus. Her wardrobe has tamed down quite a bit lately, but no one has forgotten her outrageous appearances from before she took a break from the spotlight. There was her black leather Alexandre Vauthier bandeau look, and need we point out the infamous Versace incident involving gemstones and metallic straps? No, we needn’t, but we will anyway.

Another star who’s had her fair share of show stopping VMA ensembles? Rita Ora. It’d be easy to hold Bella Hadid responsible for the slinky, sky high slit trend, but we need to remember that Rita did it first. Her scintillating Donna Karan number shocked us all in the best possible way back in 2014.

And one year later she did it again, this time in a black feather ballgown crafted by Vera Wang. Elegant Stuart Weitzman Leg Wrap sandals completed the dark look.

Talk about a superstar lineup! Britney Spears in glittery La Bourgoisie, Kim Kardashian in lace-up Balmain, and Ciara in fringe-laden Alexandre Vauthier — these pros know how to do daring and they know they can pull out all the stops and let loose at the VMAs.

And let us not forget Chanel Iman in woven Balmain providing another edgy lesson in texture.

No VMAs history would be complete without Taylor Swift. The “Love Story” singer’s most striking visits have featured shimmering houndstooth separates and a Mary Katrantzou onesie.

Of course, rainbow is the name of the game. Jeremy Scott, Amber Rose, and Blac Chyna all got the memo, as did Kesha, who stunned us with cotton candy highlights in 2014.

Other wondrous hair moments include Demi Lovato’s radical undercut, Rebel Wilson’s cinnamon dip-dyed locks, and intricately woven designs worn by Rita Ora and Chrissy Teigen.

The VMAs also mean it’s time to be flabbergasted by Gwen Stefani all over again. She struck a power pose in 2014 wearing a hot pink outfit from her own L.A.M.B. line teamed with Louboutins.

We owe a lot of the greatest, zaniest outfits of all time to the MTV VMAs. Looking forward to this year’s event, we can’t wait to see who steals the show! — jas
